1. MathLink Cubes

Different from regular blocks, these click together and require concentration and focus. These will keep your kids entertained at the most desperate times (like cooking or pooping in peace). Also, if you get dragged into playing, these are very entertaining for adults.

2. Up and Down Roller Coaster

This is a little pricey, but totally worth it. I have personally put this toy inside and outside my house (either way, they will run over the dog, but no serious injuries have occurred). Once they get tired of playing, but you haven’t finished that glass of wine, start cheering them on, and you have a solid 30 extra minutes to yourself.

3. Sandbox with Canopy and Bench Seats

If you are worried about a mess, don’t worry, your children will most likely find another way to be gross and sticky, so why not give them a fun mess. Unless you want that stray neighborhood cat leaving your 2-year-old a nice liter box snack, I highly recommend the bench seats that can open and close.

Sandbox with Canopy and Bench Seats $144.99

4. Wooden Train Set

My childhood’s best memories were of this toy, smashing my locomotive into the back of my big brother’s hand, pushing his set of trains that I just derailed. I mean, being chased and punched by my older brother was half the fun. All three of my daughters play with this, so this is not just a boys toy; slap an Elsa sticker on the trains and boom, girl appeal.

Wooden Train Set $39.99

5. Finger Puppets

They have cloth and rubber puppets; make sure to get the rubber ones, unless you enjoy cleaning mystery stains from Freddy the fox finger sharing ketchup with your 3-year-old.

6. Play Foam

Personally, this did not make a mess in my house; they accomplish that in more unique ways. Unless you leave your kids alone with shag carpet, then it might be a disaster, but for the most part, it is realistically controllable.

7. Giant Foam Building Blocks

The blocks that will never get lost under the couch. The blocks that you won’t step on and scream a foul cuss word about that your toddler will repeat in church. Another plus, easy cleanup; I mean, you won’t get them back in that bag they came in, but when you get a bucket just for these toys, it will be easy.

8. Inflatable Space Shuttle

Will they use it for its intended purpose? Probably not, but they will keep playing with it for hours, and that’s all that matters.

10. Inflatable Bouncer

They have different sizes, but I would go with a smaller version if you rather put it inside. Inside or outside, this toy is incredibly loud, so it might drown out the cries of smacking their heads together so that could be a positive or negative, depending on how you look at it.

11. Ball Pit Tent and Tunnel

My kid’s favorite toy to play with when younger and now their favorite place to watch their tablets when I need a wine break.

12. Adjustable Scooter

Allows get a scooter with two wheels in the front and not in the back. Let’s face it, our kids are the furthest from coordinated and run their feet over with the back wheels. I didn’t get my kids the adjustable seat and highly regret that decision.
